Update

Parents,

This email contains important updates about our plan for Laconia Little League to play baseball this summer. It also contains a short survey we need all of you to take so we can put the finishing touches on our plan.

First let us say we hope you and your family are safe and healthy. This has been a difficult time for all of us, for a variety of reasons. It’s our hope that a little baseball and summer fun can brighten our days a bit.

Governor Sununu has allowed non-contact youth sports to commence with specific regulations and restrictions. And after some negotiations, the City Department of Parks and Recreation has agreed to open our fields.

Play ball, right!?

Well, yes. However …

Due to regulations and restrictions, this will be the structure of the Laconia Little League season in 2020:

·         The season will run from on or about June 17 – on or about August 1.

·         The two weeks spanning June 17 – July 1 are dedicated to preseason practices.

·         Beginning July 1, teams will play three games and hold one practice every week through August 1. (Note: this is contingent upon Gov. Sununu’s anticipated update to the Stay at Home order permitting games).

·         Tryouts for Majors will be held on Saturday, June 13th at Colby Field. All Majors-eligible players who are not already on a LLL Majors team need to tryout. (Note: This year only, 8 year olds are eligible to try out for Majors.)

·         All other players ages 7-and-up will play in the Minors Division, which will have some modified rules to allow for better gameplay.

·         Due to social distancing concerns, sadly, we will not have Tee Ball or Coach Pitch Divisions this season.

·         We can gather in groups of ten or less, so during practices teams will divide players into two groups (one hitting, one fielding). These groups will rotate.

·         The players and coaches in these groups will remain at least six feet apart at all times.

·         Due to social distancing concerns, parents cannot congregate at practices and instead must wait in the parking lot or other designated areas.

·         Hand sanitizer and disinfectant will be available for all teams and players. We recommend bringing your own. Also, players should have a mask in the event of an injury and they need to be attended to by coaches or medical personnel.

·         Players must use their own equipment, including gloves and helmet. If you do not have equipment, let us know. We have plenty and we can loan you some. Whatever equipment we loan to a player will be that player’s designated equipment for the season. All shared equipment will be disinfected before the next players use.

That’s a lot of information. So let’s break it down into what you have to do:

1.       Decide if your child is playing baseball this year and let us know by filling out the below survey.

2.       Download and read the attached “COVID-19 Reopening Guidance” document available on our website [LINK]. You will be asked in person if you have read this document, so please read it.

3.       Sign the release document which you can find on our website [LINK] and bring it to your team’s first practice.

4.       If your child is Majors eligible but is not yet on a Majors team, attend our tryout on Saturday, June 13.  Remember, for this year only, 8 year olds are eligible for Majors.

Other important information:

·         If you have already registered but have since decided your child will not play this season, you have the option of:
a.) Requesting a refund for the fee you paid earlier in the registration process
b.) Applying the fee you paid to next season
c.) Treating it as a small donation to LLL

·         If you decide that your Majors player is not going to play this season, that player will begin the 2021 season on the same team they played for in the 2019 season. They will not reenter the draft.

Please take this survey letting us know if you are participating in the 2020 LLL season.

SURVEY

We look forward to playing baseball in just a couple of weeks.
